- 1. Health sphere : we are well aware of the various illnesses whose prevalence rise in the geriatric cohort, and particularly the non communicable diseases(NCDs ) comprise majority of this burden . for example , high blood pressure , diabetes mellitus , various cancers , arthritis , heart diseases and mental illness ( depression and stress ) .
- The organization intends to provide reliable medical cover to the elderly persons in order to offer them an opportunity to access healthcare. In addition , the organization will align routine medical activities which provide this cohort a chance to receive health education , screening and medical checkups and therefore realising early diagnosis of illnesses before they become obvious , and hence avert the common occurrence whereby patient are diagnosed too late for any meaningful outcome to be achieved .
- 2. Social sphere : during our interaction with the elderly persons , we discovered the scarcity of some of the basic social building blocks of a complete human being . for instance , inadequate nutrition , inadequate clean water and poor shelter. The organization intends to carry out nutritional assessments of this cohort and provide nutritional supplements to those found to be malnourished . attainment of better housing and clean water shall remain to be a constant concern.
- 3. Resilience and survival matrix : an improved healthcare , coupled with availability of better housing , clean water and standard nutrition this particular cohort of people will be assured of increased life expectancy , quality living and satisfaction .
- It is also within our objectives to provide a platform through which this cohort of people can download the indigenous knowledge and cultural practices harboured in them and be stored within our information library for use by the future generations . therefore , a home for the elderly will be created that shall serve as a meeting point , as well as a haven for those geriatrics whose relatives may not be ably available to provide the desired type of care.
- 4.Culture Hub. This home can also serve as a hub for provision of both physical and mental health care by engaging the elders in recreational activities as well as establishing reading culture.
